Mrs. Ziniewicz's Language Arts

During our "Growing Up" unit, we read short stories
and poems that relate to experiences that students might have during the middle school years. Students become more skillful in determining the main idea, identifying
the author's message, paraphrasing, and summarizing.

To symbolize growing up, we use the drawing of a sapling. During the first weeks of the school year, the height of each student is measured using the tape measure at the left of the sapling. The students record their height in their daily planners. At the end of the school year, the students are measured again to show how much they have grown physically.
